Prayer for Recovering Lost Items

This prayer was also taught by my Father. We however lost track of the prayer and just remembered the name of Raja Kartivirarjuna and just said his name. As I said earlier also, the Madhwa Calendar has this prayer and I typed the same word by word into Baraha. Here it is for your recital. Hope you don’t loose anything, but if you do, just say this prayer until you find the lost item.

Recover-Lost-Items

  1. Thanks for the shlokam. When I was a kid, my grandmother used to tell me to chant “Vakra Thunda Mahaakaaya” for lost items. This is probably more apt.
On a sad note, I think a lot of us need to chant this shloka to help recover some pieces of the Air France flight which is lost. Let the authorities at least be able to identify the cause of the crash and prevent it from happening in the future.

No doubt at all, Kaushik. My Sister’s family is traveling in Air France next month to India, and I myself in September. So, we need to find the pieces.

As I have mentioned so many times, I travel almost every week in Airbus A330. I am really scared now. Anyway, not even God will stop our destiny. That’s why my Father used to ask us always to say” Apamruthyu Parihariso Aniladeva”.

    • On a happier note, call it divine response or coincidence, more than a few bodies and pieces were recovered from the Air France mishap. Some consolation for the bereaved.

  3. Meera Ma’m,
I think people like you (and me), who have faith in the Almighty, need not fear for things beyond our control…least of all, Death. Yes, more than personal fear, we might fear for our loved ones & dependents, but we also know He knows what to do when and how, and should humbly accept what is bestowed upon us. So please put your fears aside and have a safe+wonderful trip to our Mathrubhoomi.
    Bharat beckons! :-)

    Very well said, Kaushik Sir.

    • Hayyo, Please don’t call me sir and embarrass me. I am, but a beginner much younger to you both in age and in wisdom/knowledge. Akka (elder sister) might have been an appropriate way for me to address you, but I wasn’t sure if it would be correct for me to do it, without your consent/knowledge. But please call me Kaushik, not Sir. :)

Hi Kaushik Sir,just kidding. Kaushik, I just couldn’t stop laughing after reading your comment. I may be older to you, but when wisdom/knowledge is concerned, this isn’t any age difference.

As I remember, Kartavirya Arjuna was an evil person who was killed by Sri ParashuramaDevaru. Following his death, Lord Parashurama killed Kartavirya Arjuna’s sons and the next 21 generations of Kshatriyas.
I’m not sure what Kartavirya Arjuna’s significance is [regarding lost items].

I really don’t know Mr. Venkatesh Rao. As I said earlier also, my Grandmothers, Dad and also the Madhwa Panchanga have this prayer. It must have some significance. I will find out and write about it as well.

Thanks for this prayer. However I would be delighted if you could let me know if there is an audio version of this prayer. I would like to hear it and practice chanting this mantra accordingly.

Malini, I will record the prayer and post it on youtube. There isn’t any audio for these.

Thanks for the Sloka. But I believe there are 2 more slokas to this. Can you or anybody else provide these?

      Rama,
This is all I have heard and is also in the Uttaradi Matt Panchanga from which I have posted. No idea about two more slokas being there.

    Greetings,

I was researching the Dvadasa Sthotra and landed on your blog.

Raja Kartivirarjuna was the direct manifestation of Sudarshana Chakra. The Lord ordained him to take birth on earth when he questioned the lord as to what was the need for the lord to take incarnations and strain himself, when he could order his dasas (servants through total surrender to the Lord) to handle Dharma.

The reason for “SHREE HARI” to incarnate is to protect dharma and to protect the weak and righteous.

For Dharma samstapana to occur you need an Antagonist, enter Raja Kartivirarjuna. The samstapana was required as the Kshatriyas had become Cruel.

We need to look within the puranas to realize the Antarya.

    Regards,
    Taudalachar.
