Ms. Jyothi Kiran had posted the lyrics for this song in my blog in November. I had overlooked it. No idea why. I am so sorry, Jyothi. Thanks so much for providing the lyrics. I have listened to this song several times sung by Dr Bhimsen Joshi. Just amazing.

Beautiful song. Beauty of depth, beauty of feeling, beauty of brilliant singing all in one.
Today, as this wonderful singer and bhaktha passes on, let us all remember his wonderful contributions to this world and pray that the lord bless his soul and take care of him…..

Kariyalu Ariye Kari Raajanante
hi,
thanks for posting this. would you happen to know what the above line means? who does kariraaja refer to?
thanks, kripa.

Kari raaja means the king of elephant. This refers to the story of Gajendra moksha where the elephant will seek the help of lord Vishnu, when stuck in the mouth of a crocodile. The lord immediately rushes and saves the elephant.
In this song, Purandara dasa says, “I dont know how to call like the elephant, so that you rush to me and save me.”
The song is one of the gems composed. Purandara dasa lists all the great saints and devotees of lord Vishnu and says that I can never equal any one of them; Yet I seek your blessings. So kindly help me, O lord. (Karuniso Ranga)

Dear Madam,
I will be grateful if you can mail the Kannada transliteration of this Divine song.
Dr Bhimsen Joshi has rendered this beutiful song with such deep devotion in his trademark booming voice that it takes you to another world.
Whenever I am disturbed, I just close my eyes and listen to this great song atleast 3 times and feel really different thereafter!
Somehow the complete lyrics do not come to my mind whenever I intend to sing it without the audio! Can you pl send the lyrics in Kannada?
T&R,
Divakar

Lyrics in Kannada….

This song has lots of emotions inside. My mom use to listen this song in her last days. I use to play this song in my mobile when she was in bed. I still listen this song whenever I feel to remember my mom.
