While cleaning the pooja room last week, found this old worn out paper which had the procedure for performing Upakarma (changing the sacred thread ಜನಿವಾರ as called in Kannada). I thought it would be helpful to most men who visit this blog and so scanned the same. The page as I mentioned is very old, please click on it to see a bigger image.

sri
it is nicely revealing the ways of our saampraadaya karmas, for me at least to know what it is.
i believe details of shodasha karmas also will follow thru this sacred engagement of yours.

Respected friends,
The procedure is the same but the mantras are different for telugu people with the difference being in
1.aachamanam:om keshavaya swaha ,narayanaya swaha, madhavaya swaha and govindaya namah
and2.angavandanam :vishnu, madhusudhana, trivikrama, vamana, sridhara, rishikesha, padmanabha, damodhara, sankarshuna, vasudeva, pradhyumna, anirudha, purushottama, adhokshaja, naarasimha, achutha, janardhana, upendra, hare shri krishna yunamaha and tomorrow is the :GAYATRI JAPAM DAY”,TRY TO CHANT AS MUCH GAYATRI MANTRA AS POSSIBLE AND also chant THE MANTRA “kaamo-akaarsheen manyur akaarsheet namo namaha”meaning :kama(desire) did it and “manyurakaarsheet”:the anger did it i.e falling under the control of desire and anger i did bad things unknowingly, forgive me and “namonamah”:o gods i again and again salute you.
