Rama Navami falls on the ninth day(Navami) of the Hindu calendar year during the Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami. It is a celebration of the birthday of the Lord Rama. Ramnavami usually occurs in the months of March and April.

As always, here are some very popular slokas to say on that day.

May Shri Lord Rama bless you all.

1. Rama Stotra in the Vishnu Sahasranama, say this sloka 3 times as mentioned in the sahasranama.

Sri Rama Rama Rameti Rame Raame Manorame
Sahasra Nama Tat Tulyam Rama Nama Varanane
Sri Rama Nama Varanane Iti

2. Next one is what we learnt when we were all young.

Ramaya Rama Bhadraya Ramachandraya Vedhase
Raghu Nathaya Nathaya Sitayah Pataye Namaha

3. And of course, Hare Rama Hare Rama

Hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare
Hare Krishna hare Krishna krishna krishna hare hare

  2. Meera avare,

The picture itself evokes bhaktirasa even in naastika’s :-) Seeing the photo’s of your home pooja, evoked some thoughts on Sita and the role of destiny in her life…

  3. Meera Avare,

This is an elaboration about – “Shurpanakhi” , the ‘bitter gouard’ character of Raamaayana – hope, it is as bitter as your bitter gourd dishes…!

    Namaskara

I am new to this blog. I liked it very much. we are also uttaradhi matha. i am just curious to know that during Ram Navami we do panakas especially of green mango. i exactly dont no how to do it. I heard that we need to peel the mango and then keep in the pressure cooker and have 1 or 2 whistles, later squeeze the mango juice from it and add water ,sugar, lil salt and ellekka powder. is the method correct…

    Thanks
