Thambittu – ತಂಬಿಟ್ಟು

Thambittu or ತಂಬಿಟ್ಟು as it is called in Kannada, is prepared for many festivals and most importantly doing Aarathi to God using the same. So, attached below is 1 quick and easy recipe for the same.
How to prepare Thambittu?

Naga-Chaturthi2020

There are many different type of Thambittu. It is made of rice flour (ಅಕ್ಕಿ ಹಿಟ್ಟು) , wheat flour(ಗೋದಿ  ಹಿಟ್ಟು) and Dhalia or Hurigadale(ಹುರಿಗಡಲೆ).

So, here is a simple recipe which you can do in just minutes. This is the recipe my Mom used to make. Easy and simple and can be done in less than 15 minutes max.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup finely ground Hurigadale or Putani or Split Dalia ಹುರಿಗಡಲೆ
  • 1 cup finely chopped Jaggery or brown sugar ಬೆಲ್ಲ
  • 5 tsp Ghee ತುಪ್ಪ
  • 1/4 cup desiccated coconut ವಣ ಕೊಬ್ಬರಿ

Method:

In a pan, add the jaggery, ghee and just enough water to dissolve the jaggery. Let it boil for almost 5-6 minutes , until all the jaggery is dissolved. Next, add the ground Hurigadale and mix well. Also add coconut.

When it is cool to handle, form the shape of a laddu. And make a small hole in the center such that you can place a bathi for lighting the lamp.

Add ghee to the bathi, and place in the center. Make 5 such and do aarathi.

Hi, as far as i understood your question, it is rubbi haakida huli? as far as i know, the way we make huli pudi, the same way, we have to roast all the huli pudi ingredients and instead of dry coconut, use fresh coconut and grind the roasted things in a mixie/blender.. now the remaining steps are same as Huli…
