Hanumad Vratha Celebrations @ Sri Bhaktha Anjaneya Temple (SBAT)

This morning, we visited Sri Bhaktha Anjaneya Temple (SBAT)  Hanumad Vratha Celebrations. The pooja was performed at
Roberto Clemente Middle School,18808 Waring Station Rd Germantown, MD-20874.

The temple performed “Hanumad Vratham” – A unique special puja for Lord Anjaneya with participation by devotees.

Vada Maala and Jahangir Maala –adorning The Lord with garlands made of “Vada” (savory made of urad daal) and “Jahangir” (sweet made of urad daal) and seek His Blessings. The temple prepared these items in-house. After the pooja celebrations was Maha prasada which included Vada, Jahangir, Bisibelebath, Yogurt rice, Potato Palya and Pickle. It was a wonderful Saturday morning devoted to Lord Hanuman. We also chanted the “Sri Rama Nama” and “Hanuman Chalisa” both of which are posted here in the blog.

Attached below are two pictures from the function.

The vrata should be performed 13 times, every week, or every month. All the pooja details provided were taken back from the temple. So, I don’t have much details. Contact your nearest temple, they might give additional details.

Great service. Very glad to know this. However, please make correction that Hanumadvratha and Hanuma Jayanthi are not one and the same.

  3. Hare Shreenivasa

Jayanthi means the Birth Day, Lord Hanuman is born on Chaitra Shudha Poornima which is called as Chitra Poornima. Every year Shreemad Hanumadjayanthi is observed on Chitra Poornima day. Shreemad HanumadVrata is observed on Margasheersha Shukla Trayodashi every year.

This vrata is observed for good health and Prosperity. Performing Shree Hanmad Vrata keeps us healthy, free from all fears, psychological tensions and even succes in studies. It is observed by married couples, unmarried devotees, children and elder people. This year Shreemad Hanumadvrata was observed on 25.12.2012 Margasheersha Shukla Trayodashi

I feel the function U have refered is Shreemad Hanumadvratam as refered in the text “The temple performed “Hanumad Vratham” – A unique special puja for Lord Anjaneya with participation by devotees” and it is not Shreemad Hanumadjayanthi as refered to in the title.

I was confused because the title at the temple said Jayanthi and the details posted were for the Vratha. Anyway, it was a great puja, and we all got the blessings of Lord Anjaneya.

Hare Srinivasa, I am having Sree Hanumad Vratha book. We are performing this pooja past 11 years. I am planning to publish pooja paddathi of this vratha by next year form my mandali. It will be very easy to any body just reading the book (like a flow chart) they can perform pooja.

  5. Dear Shree H Sethu Rao,

Good. Kindly publish Sree Hanumad Vratha book as early as possible. In the mean time if U can make available a digital/scanned copy of the book U have, it will be of much use for all interested Bhaktas of Lord Hanuman.
