2013 was an amazing year for me. The most amazing day was the one when we performed the Sahasra Chandra Darshana Homa of our Father.

I traveled to many places far and nearby, and many of you joined me online in this journey. Thanks for that.

I shared many of the miracles which happened in our Family, which brought tears to many of you, and for many who commented solidified the faith in our Supreme Lord.

I was able to see our Beloved Rayaru at Mantralaya, and Bichale.

A blog which has crossed many milestones, a blog which is being read in many countries, a blog which has many contributors, a blog which has influenceD many, a blog which brings many to share their own stories, a blog which makes people have faith in our Supreme Lord, would not have been possible withOUT the blessings from the Supreme Lord.

This blog wouldn’t have been possible without the constant support from my Dear Husband and Dear Daughter.

This blog wouldn’t have been possible without the upbringing from my Parents. Everything I have learned about my religion, about our Supreme Lord, about our beloved Rayaru is because of my Parents.

Rayaru Stalls Age-Related Macular Degeneration of my Dad

ಅಂಧೋಪಿ ದಿವ್ಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಸ್ಸ್ಯಾದೇಡಮೂಕೋಪಿ ವಾಕ್ಪತಿಃ |
ಪೂರ್ಣಾಯುಃ ಪೂರ್ಣಸಂಪತ್ತಿಃ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಸ್ಯಾಸ್ಯ ಜಪಾದ್ಭವೇತ್ || ೨೪ ||

अंधोपि दिव्य दृष्टिस्स्यादेडमूकोपि वाक्पतिः ।
पूर्णायुः पूर्णसंपत्तिः स्तोत्रस्यास्य जपाद्भवेत् ॥ २४ ॥

aMdhOpi divya dRuShTissyAdEDamUkOpi vAkpatiH |
pUrNAyuH pUrNasaMpattiH stOtrasyAsya japAdBavEt || 24 ||

By reciting this stotra, a person, if blind, will regain eyesight; if deaf, will regain hearing; and if dumb, will regain speech. He will live up to the full human age of 100 and will gain immense wealth. (24)

As I read these lines, tears running down my face, I continued reciting this stotra. Kept asking our Beloved Rayaru to make this stotra come true, and help cure Dad’s Age-Related Macular Degeneration. My Father was diagnosed with Age-Related Macular Degeneration in Jan 2009 while he went for a regular eye check-up.

Macular Degeneration is a leading cause of vision loss among older people. It causes damage to the macula, a small spot near the center of the retina and the part of the eye needed for sharp, central vision, which lets us see objects that are straight ahead. In some people, Macular Degeneration advances so slowly that vision loss does not occur for a long time. In others, the disease progresses faster and may lead to a loss of vision in one or both eyes. People who smoke, who don’t exercise, and ones who have High Blood pressure and High Cholesterol are at greater risk.

My Father has none of the above, and is as fit as any teenager. He has never ever smoked, never had high-blood pressure or High Cholesterol, and eats the most healthy diet. He walks miles and miles and can run any marathon even at this age. So, once we heard this news, we were in shock, and disbelief.

The internet helped us a lot, I collected tons of information online and kept advising my Dad about diet which could assist. Dad followed everything I asked him to religiously.

He started visiting the best hospitals in Bangalore. He was given Eye injections to inject drugs into the eye. It is a really painful procedure. Each injection and the procedure following the injection cost thousand of rupees. The same Ophthalmologist who was giving injections, all of a sudden decided they needed to do Laser Eye Surgery. This Surgery they said was key and would help cure Macular Degeneration. The Hospital also insisted they do the surgery as early as possible and that it would cost around 1 and 1/2 lakh rupees. I collected all the information from Mom & Dad and researched thoroughly and found out that this surgery was not going to work where the bleeding had already happened.  A part of the email I sent was as such ” Laser Eye Surgery for Age Related Macular Degeneration aims to obliterate the subretinal neovascular membranes that form prior to their bleeding so as to prevent bleeding and scar formation. Once bleeding has occurred, laser eye surgery for AMD is not usually useful.”

I asked my Parents to not get this surgery, however inside I was in so much fear. Dad and Mom listened to me like the words came from God. I was scared, and that’s when I kept praying to our beloved Rayaru and asked him to help one of his greatest devotee who had sincerely all his life recited the above stotra. I kept asking our Rayaru” How could he have done this to my Father?”. Show your miracle, stall the process and let him continue with his life as any other person does.

Dad went to many different Doctors and kept getting the Injections. It took many years though, finally Dad is now at a position where the damage which has been done to the right eye remains as is, but he is still able to see clearly with his left eye. This year, he also had surgery for Cataract. We all knew the struggle Dad went through, and how even my Mom struggled with him. She took care of him like a devoted wife, cleaning his eyes, giving him regular medicines, applying eye drops, accompanying him to the hospital and back. Mom kept praying to our beloved Rayaru, she performed many sevas and attributes the change in Dad’s condition to Rayaru as well.

Like they say, “God tests his devotees more than anyone else”. Test us and our family, yes he has. Each and every time, we have held him and his feet even more stronger.

Last but not least, our Rayaru once again showed to us that when you recite his stotra, he will definitely bless you. The one and only thing you need to have is utter faith in HIM. And our Father showed that he had that FAITH IN OUR BELOVED RAYARU.

Sree Raghvendra Swamy Face Impression on a Wall

As I was talking to my Mom on phone today, she mentioned about a miracle which was happening in Sree Kalyani Rayara Mutta in Bangalore. We are very familiar with Sree Kalyani Rayara Mutta since this was where we performed all the rituals of our Late Mother-in-law.

Mom said an impression of our Rayaru’s face was coming up on the wall in the temple. Mom also mentioned it was mentioned in the VijayaVani news paper. I searched online and found the article on VijayaVani e-paper. Mom gave me all the details which helped me in searching the article online.

Mom Survives Building Collapse

This miracle happened many years back late in the 80’s. If you have read my many posts, you will know by now that my Parents are great devotees of Sree Raghavendra Swamy. All the Bhakthi, Belief and devotion I have is basically because of my Parents. My Mom used to do seva every year during summer for 7 days. My sister and I used to sit next to her and sing all the songs. I as a kid thought that Shree Raghavendra Swamy was one of my grandfathers. I still consider him the same. Grandparents are so attached to their grand kids right? And that’s how our beloved Rayaru is also attached to us.

Anyway, back to the miracle which happened to my Mom and everyone in our family. Mom was a lecturer or Professor you may call at SECAB Degree College in Bijapur. She used to teach History to Graduate Students. She completed her Post Graduation in History from Dharwad, Karnataka University.

This incident happened in August. It had been raining for almost a week in Bijapur. Mom had her first class at 7.35 AM and was teaching in her College. There was lot of construction going on in her college. There were just 4 girls in her class that day since it was raining. Mom started her class, and during that same time some cement and a few bricks fell from the roof of the classroom. Mom and the girls joked that they would all runaway if the building collapsed. As they were speaking and laughing, the roof collapsed and the door completely jammed. The girls and Mom couldn’t get out of the door, so Mom asked everyone of them to jump out of the window which they broke open.

Two of the girls escaped, the third girl was about to jump out of the window when the window collapsed and crushed her left hand completely. She was bleeding profusely and her hand was completely jammed.

Our Mom had another window to escape, and as she was about to jump out of the window the entire window and part of the ceiling collapsed on her head. Mom was bleeding profusely and lost consciousness. This was just the first class, and it was around 8.05 AM. The college staff went crazy and called ambulance. They called my Father who was working in Sainik School, Bijapur. Since this was an accident, Mom and the remaining two girls were taken to the Civil Hospital near Sainik School. A girl from Mom’s college came home, I opened the door and she had my Mom’s bag and slippers. As soon as I saw that, I knew something really bad had happened. She told me my Mom was in a terrible accident and in Civil Hospital and that we had to rush there immediately to see her.

My brother, sister and I rushed to the hospital. Our Dad was waiting there. Mom was not conscious. She was in the ICU for almost a week. We couldn’t talk to her. She kept screaming anytime she got her senses back. The only thing she remembered for weeks was the accident. My Sister and I were still in High School. So, my Father had to stay at night with my Mom in the Hospital. My Father who until now had never asked anything from God or our Beloved Rayaru said he prayed for my Mom. He asked God and Rayaru to save her for his three kids. I should mention that I have not seen one day in my entire life my Dad missing Sandhyavandana or not reciting Rayara Ashtotra.

Even after 3-4 weeks there was no change in Mom’s condition. In the meantime, our Mysore Ajji, Uncles and Aunts rushed to Bijapur seeing the news in the newspaper. Ajji took over taking care of Mom and all of us. When Mom was allowed to travel, Dad took her to NIHMANS in Bangalore where they performed a brain scan. They found out at that point that she had a hair line fracture. If the fracture was 1 mm to the left or right she would have been completely mad or in coma. The Neurosurgeon told our Father that Mom was really lucky.

Of course, there is no luck here. It was the ultimate devotion to our beloved Rayaru that both my parents had which saved her life. Mom struggled for almost a year with severe head ache. When she woke up, her eyes used to be blood red. Slowly and steadily with medication, lots of love from Dad, Ajji, relatives and her three kids and above all God’s grace Mom was her old self. She continued working in SECAB college until her retirement.

As I was chatting with my Mom today over the phone, we recollected this incident. Mom keeps telling me that I am a great devotee of Rayaru, and I reminded her that it is all in my gene because of her. We talked a lot about this incident, and that’s when I told her I am going to post about this incident in my blog. This is just a reminder that with our Bhakthi and devotion and sincere prayers, our Beloved Rayaru can change our fate. That’s why he is called ” Kalpavriksha Kamadhenu”. That’s why he remained back in earth to help his devotees.
