Rama Navami falls on the ninth day(Navami) of the Hindu calendar year during the Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami. It is a celebration of the birthday of the Lord Rama. Ramnavami usually occurs in the months of March and April. This year it is on March 25th 2018.

As always, here are some very popular slokas to say on that day.

May Shri Lord Rama bless you all.

1. Rama Stotra in the Vishnu Sahasranama, say this sloka 3 times as mentioned in the sahasranama.

Sri Rama Rama Rameti Rame Raame Manorame
Sahasra Nama Tat Tulyam Rama Nama Varanane
Sri Rama Nama Varanane Iti

2. Next one is what we learnt when we were all young.

Ramaya Rama Bhadraya Ramachandraya Vedhase
Raghu Nathaya Nathaya Sitayah Pataye Namaha

3. And of course, Hare Rama Hare Rama

Hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare
Hare Krishna hare Krishna krishna krishna hare hare

Sri Sugunendra Teertha Gurubhyo Namah…

By the grace of Sri Hari Vayu Gurugalu, we are fortunate and blessed to have been graced by the visit of His *Holiness Parama Poojya Sri 1008 Sri Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji* Chief Pontiff of Puthige Matha to Atlanta. Sri Swamiji started his sanchara from Greenville, South Carolina from 4th March, and is now in Atlanta, and will be there till about 20th March.
During this sanchara period, Poojya Swamiji will perform the maha pooja to Sri Vitthala Davaru, Sri Lakshmi Bhuvaraha, Sri Srikara Narayana, Sri Dhanvantari and several other deities passed on in the glorious lineage of Sri Puthige Matha, some of which were worshiped by the preceptor of the lineage, Sri Upendra Teertha, and are 750 years old.
Sri Swamiji will also perform evening Tottilu Pooja to Lord Sri Krishna in the houses of various devotees.
Additionally, Sudarshana homa and Taptamudradharana will be organized for devotees on Sunday, 11th March, in northern Atlanta. Madhwa priest services are also available during this time for any religious functions like Homa, ShashtiAbdaPoorthi, shraddha etc

During Ugadi, the leaves of neem also called Bevu ಬೇವು is mixed with jaggery called Bella ಬೆಲ್ಲ; and is distributed on the occasion. Neem, which is extremely bitter in taste( Kahi) , and jaggery which is sweet and delicious, signify the two different aspects of human life – joy and sorrow.
