A completely new song which I myself hadn’t heard and found in a book. I tried different tunes, came up with my own, used Google translate to write down the lyrics. Each and every line is just heart touching.
Hopefully, we all get a chance to visit Mantralaya in 2021.

This year 2020 has been a tough year not just for us who lost our dear ones, but the entire world. Today, being the last day of 2020, I hope 2021 brings some relief for all of us from COVID and any other challenge we are facing. This Stotra is exactly the one we need to pray to our beloved Rayaru to remove all our sorrow and give us strength to bear the challenges we definitely will face no matter what.
I learnt this also today, typed the lyrics in Google translate and have posted below. The lyrics are tough, forgive for any mistakes.

Tomorrow being Pushya Nakshatra and Thursday, I wanted to learn at least a few new songs on our beloved Rayaru, rare ones and post the audio. I learnt this new Mangalastakam composed by Sri Suvidyendra Theertharu. I will post the lyrics soon, hopefully you will be able to listen to this in the meantime.
It is called GuruGatha ಗುರು ಗಾಥಾ .
According to WIKIPEDIA, GATHA ಗಾಥಾ is a Sanskrit term for “song” or “verse”, especially referring to any poetic metre which is used in legends. The word is originally derived from the Sanskrit/Prakrit root gai, which means, to speak, sing, recite or extol, cognate to the Avestan term gatha. The stanzas of the Prakrit dialects of Ardhamagadhi, Sauraseni and Pāli are known as gathas as opposed to shlokas and Sutras of Sanskrit and Dohas of Apabhramsha.
In contemporary Buddhist practice as popularized (and derived from the Zen and Theravādin traditions) by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, a gatha is a verse recited (usually mentally, not aloud) in rhythm with the breath as part of mindfulness practice, either in daily life, or as part of meditation or meditative study.
The common interpretation of Pushyaarka Yoga is the combination of Pushya Nakshatra and Thursday or Sunday. This common interpretation is when moon entering Pushya nakshatra on Thursday or Sunday is PushyArka yoga .
December 31st 2020 is Pushya Nakshatra and Thursday. And also last day of 2020.
Raghavendra Mutta says “On this Holy day one should Recite or Chant Guru Stotra ( Raghavendra Stotra)s, Singing songs will bring happiness and prosperity in your life.”
The significance of this day is also mentioned in Rayara Stotra – 27th Stanza.
Anyone who recites this holy Sri Raghavendra Stotram 108 times with intense devotion, on the occasion of solar/lunar eclipse or the combination of Sunday with the star Pushya, will be relieved of all evil influence, e.g., haunting etc. (27)

The audio I listened all had just 1/2 of the lyrics. So, I decided to learn the song and record the same. It’s quite easy to learn and can be recited easily.
I had posted the lyrics for this song in 2008, I sang this during our virtual zoom satsangha last week and noted the tune found on youtube was quite different than what Mom & Dad taught us. So, recorded the audio and posted on youtube and the lyrics below.
P.S: Please check your local calendars and temples to see the exact date for Vaikunta Ekadashi. If you plan on going to temple, please make sure you wear a mask, social distance and wash your hands often. This will be the very first year as far as I can remember I am going to skip going to the temple and just offer my prayers from home.
Vaikunta Ekadashi falls in the month December-January. This year it falls on December 25th 2020 Friday. This is observed with all solemnity in the temples of Lord Vishnu. Please check your local calendars to see when it falls.
Vaikunta Ekadashi is of great significance at the Tirupati Balaji Temple, and also all Balaji temples. They prepare what is called a “Swargada Bagilu” also called as ‘Vaikunta Dwaram’ or ‘the gate to the heaven‘ This gate is opened on this day. This is the passage encircling the innermost sanctum of the Lord. Scores of devotees queue up to pass through the Gate of Vaikunta in the temples.
For the devotees of Lord Vishnu, every Ekadashi is a very sacred day No rice should be eaten on Ekadashi days. This is very important.
Those who are unable to fast completely can take some light fruit and milk. So you may ask why we shouldn’t eat rice, so here comes the story for the same.
The sweat that fell down from the head of Brahma assumed the form of a demon and said to the Lord, “O Lord! now give me an abode to dwell.” Brahma replied, “O demon! go and dwell in the rice particles eaten by men on Ekadashi day and become worms in their stomach.” For this reason rice is prohibited on Ekadashi.
If you don’t believe in this story, just think of all the benefits you can get from fasting.
Fasting makes a man strong, both spiritually and mentally.Fasting controls passion. It checks the emotions. It controls the senses also. It is good to fast once in a while as it recuperates the body. Ekadashi observance cleans our body and the digestive organs get much needed rest.
Those people suffering from ailments and on medications should take the advice of a doctor before fasting. Never torture your body in the name of religion. There is nothing wrong in having fruits or milk. And you can bring a certain amount of flexibility in the way it is observed.
Thee lyrics for Shri Ganesha Dwadasanama Stotra was posted since 2008. Most audios and videos have just the first 5 paragraphs. Ms.Bhavana Damle had shared the 8 paragraphs of the Stotra. So, having vacation until January 4th 2021, I used my day off to record the song and post on youtube.
Along with Channa Dal chutney powder, I also prepared Flaxseed Chutney Powder. Almost same recipe except, instead of 1 and 1/2 cups of Channa Dal, I used 1 cup of Channa Dal and added 1/2 cup of Flax Seeds.
You can find Channa Dal chutney powder recipe here:
1/2 inch – Turmeric root – we had dry one and we grated it
3 tsp – jaggery
1 tsp – Hing
1/2 lemon size ball tamarind
Salt to taste
3-4 tsp oil for frying
Method:
Fry both dals and flaxseed separately with very little oil until golden brown, take out on a plate
Fry red chillies also in 1 tsp oil, take out on a plate
Next – fry coconut, tamarind and curry leaves, take out on a plate
Once all these ingredients are cooled, mix turmeric, salt and jaggery and grind in your grinder.
P.S- Reduce red chilies if you want less spicy. Use a mix of Byadagi, it was over so you don’t see the dark red color. Increase curry leaves if you choose, a great taste. Also, you can reduce coconut if you choose to.
