Is it clear that Shri Purandara Dasaru had extraordinary glory, right?
Shri Purandara Dasaru one day addressed his young son Madhvapati, “Madhvapati! today, go give offering to Maruti,’ he ordered. As per his father’s order, Madhvapati took all the worship items and came to the temple after bathing and performing the puja. “Have food,” he said to Lord Maruti. Does the Idol every eat? He held it like that for a moment. “Why are you not eating? Not hungry yet? Eat as much as you are hungry,” he said. The boy, who only knew enough to obey his father’s orders, could not even know whether the idol could eat or not, and said, “What? Don’t eat at all? Do you want to be scolded by your father? I won’t leave you without eating, I won’t go home any other way” said Madhvapati to himself.
Father has asked me to offer the food to you What if Father think’s I am lying? Eat, eat, eat! If you are still stubborn, I will die at your feet. Why do you not want to eat? Seeing this young boy’s open devotion, the Idolof Lord Maruti opened its mouth. Then the boy took one morsel at a time and the Maruti ate all the food the boy had brought. The boy said, “Hanumappa! Now happy. Did you see that you were so hungry and you wanted to fast and make sure my Father scolded me too? I will come early from tomorrow, will go now?” That said he came home.
While Dasaru was sitting for lunch, “Madhvapati! did you offer food to Maruti, O father!” Madhvapati said, “Yes, I gave the offering, but there is no prasada left.” Maruti didn’t eat for a while even though his stomach was very hungry. I did not leave. I fought harder than him, in the end I won, I came back after Maruti ate food. “He has eaten everything without leaving a single morsel,” he said. Everyone joked and laughed. Madhvapati cried. There was no escaping Dasaru’s surprise and joy. “Madhvapati! Will you offer food to Maruti? Will you make him eat in front of me tomorrow!” he said. Madhvapati agreed.’
The next day both father and son left and came to Maruti’s temple. The boy took a bite of the rice and held it close to the face of the idol. The idol didn’t open its mouth. Dasaru saw the strange phenomenon and said “Oh! I know, yesterday someone may have tricked the boy into eating, the ignorant boy thought that Maruti had eaten and said, ‘Child Madhvapati how can an idol eat?’ He said. Madhvapati repeated that he had done the same yesterday! Eat Hanumappa! eat today! No matter what, the idol did not open his mouth. “What? “Don’t you want to eat? Do you want to make me a liar in the presence of my father? Here! I will lose my life by hitting my head on your footstep,” At that point, Maruti ate all the offerings given by Madhvapati.
Seeing this, Dasaru was overwhelmed with joy. He praised Maruti in various ways, embracing the son who was worthy of the complete grace of Maruti Raya, saying that it was his firm belief in the grace of God that was due to his innocent attitude.
