Last year we performed Satsangha at my home on June 19th. You can see the invitation I shared and the detailed pictures at the below links.

Satsangha Invitation

Satsangha Pictures

We have been performing Satsangha every month at many devotees houses. May also was planned at one of their houses and due to unavoidable circumstances, they couldn’t perform. Since we didn’t want to miss May, I decided to host the same.

I have been traveling almost every single week this month. This week I was at San Francisco, going back tomorrow again to San Francisco and coming on Thursday night. And next week to Minneapolis. May and June each and every week is completely booked with travel.

I was planning on hosting only in September, but like we all know Rayaru has his own ideas for his devotees. My husband said he will help me to host this, and so May 21st Sunday morning we decided was the date.

So, hereby I am inviting all of you residing in the Maryland, Virginia and DC area to come join us. We will start promptly at 10.00 AM. After the pooje, we will have lunch prepared by yours truly. 🙂

Please consider this as a personal invitation and join me and Raghu at our house. If you leave a comment, I will share my home address and phone number. Hoping to See you all.

I will post pictures and hopefully video this time of the pooje.

Update – Vaikunta Ekadashi – Jan 8th/9th 2017

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE WHO HAS VISITED THIS BLOG. MAY 2017 BRING PEACE HAPPINESS, AND HEALTH TO EACH ONE OF YOU!

January 8th 2017 is Smartha Ekadashi.

January 9th 2017 is Bhagavatha Ekadashi.

P.S: Please check your local calendars and temples to see the exact date for Vaikunta Ekadashi.

Vaikunta Ekadashi falls in the month December-January. This year it falls on January 8th and 9th 2017. This is observed with all solemnity in the temples of Lord Vishnu. Please check your local calendars to see when it falls.

Vaikunta Ekadashi is of great significance at the Tirupati Balaji Temple, and also all Balaji temples. They prepare what is called a “Swargada Bagilu” also called as ‘Vaikunta Dwaram’ or ‘the gate to the heaven‘ This gate is opened on this day. This is the passage encircling the innermost sanctum of the Lord. Scores of devotees queue up to pass through the Gate of Vaikunta in the temples.

For the devotees of Lord Vishnu, every Ekadashi is a very sacred day No rice should be eaten on Ekadashi days. This is very important.

Those who are unable to fast completely can take some light fruit and milk. So you may ask why we shouldn’t eat rice, so here comes the story for the same.

The sweat that fell down from the head of Brahma assumed the form of a demon and said to the Lord, “O Lord! now give me an abode to dwell.” Brahma replied, “O demon! go and dwell in the rice particles eaten by men on Ekadashi day and become worms in their stomach.” For this reason rice is prohibited on Ekadashi.

If you don’t believe in this story, just think of all the benefits you can get from fasting.

Fasting makes a man strong, both spiritually and mentally.Fasting controls passion. It checks the emotions. It controls the senses also. It is good to fast once in a while as it recuperates the body. Ekadashi observance cleans our body and the digestive organs get much needed rest.

Those people suffering from ailments and on medications should take the advice of a doctor before fasting. Never torture your body in the name of religion. There is nothing wrong in having fruits or milk. And you can bring a certain amount of flexibility in the way it is observed.

Prayer by Sree Appanacharya

As I was browsing through FB, I found this amazing link which gave a complete day to day activities  of our Beloved Rayaru  in the greatest detail as written by Sree Appanacharya who resided with Rayaru for several decades. This is one of the Prayers Sree Appanacharyaru used to recite. The very first time I read the Stotra and the meaning, I had tears rolling down my eyes. I couldn’t wait to share it with you all devotees of Rayaru.

Below is the Stotra in Kannada and Baraha English. You can copy and paste in Baraha and translate to any language of your choice.

The meaning of the stotra goes like this:

O king of Sanyasis, O Ramachandra’s worshipper, O Raghavendra Guru, protect me

Please do reside within me, please do get me to your place. Protect me in all ways, all worlds, and always. I am praying to you to fulfill my smallest desires, I am the smallest among small being. I am the follower of your lotus feet, please protect me.

Victory be yours. May I be protected by your grace. I salute to you. I salute to you once again. I salute to your granthas. I salute to you who prays to Lord Hari.  I salute to your hands which worshiped Lord Hari, and composed and studied Guru Madhwacharya’s granthas.

I salute to you who is praised by one and all in this world. I salute to you, I salute to you once again.

I tried my best getting the message out, if you know Sanskrit, please do correct the meaning. Hope you all recite this amazing stotra to get the blessings of our beloved Rayaru.

Learn Sree Raghavendra Stotra – One Stotra At a Time

2016aaradhane

We had another Satsangha last week at Virginia. It was just amazing to see how much devotion and bhakthi people have on our beloved Rayaru. As I was going through my won blog, I found that I had not given link for people to learn and recite the amazing Stotra step by step. I have several links for the Stotra itself, but not matter what language it is written in, it is tough for many including me to pronounce Sanskrit properly.

So, below is an amazing link on Patwari.org which has each and every sloka recited one at a time. This is a great resource for many of you to share with your friends, relatives and kids to learn the Stotra.

Learn Guru Stotra.

As always all credit goes to the webmaster. I am just providing the link for easy learning.
