Hope you all had a wonderful Sree Krishna Janmasthami and celebrated the birth of our Almight Lord Krishna. We were planning to have this festival quite simple, and when our Daughter called and told us she would be joining us for the Festival, things changes completely. It was quite hectic, but at the end of the pooje so satisfying. After the pooje when you sit back and look at the festivities, all your strain and pain just vanishes.
The Mango leaves and the plantain leaves were from our Garden!
The menu items I prepared were:
- Moong Dal Kosambari
- Chana Dal Kosambari
- Upma
- Kesari Bath
- Sweet Avalakki
- Khara Avalakki
- Majjige Avalakki
- Thengolu
- Ompudi
- Shankar Poli
- Kodubale
So, here are some pictures from my home.

Madam,
Very very Nice & belated Wishes of Sree Krishnaastami / Jayanthi. This year both Both Astami with Rohini Nakshatra are same day, so Gokula – Astami / Krishna jayanthi are in same day.
I liked that tree with tottilu, very Nice. If you kept that silver Doggala Krishna, it may be more nice for his birth day.
I felt in food preparation you might have forgotten imp. two items i.e Chakkuli & Gilaganchi.
What about imp. pooja of Argya to Krishna with water / milk from Shanka & coconut (Sloka – Jathakamsa Vadarthanaya….) & Gokula with mud.
Fine I inspired very simple & best decoration of our beloved Lord krishna in USA.
Thk. u for sharing.
Krishnam Vandye JagadGuru.

There is the ambekalu Krishna in the silver plate. Chakkuli & Gilaganchi prepared in our house for Ganesha. Most important is avalakki. Argya of course we gave you can see it in the picture. No gokula with mud in our family.

Geetha,
Thanks so much for your kind words. I know there are many silent admirers like you, if not this blog couldn’t have reached 5.75 million all time visitors.
The Tree swing was given to me by my Mom when I visited Bangalore in November last year, she had purchased it from 9th block silver store, near the bus stop. Called as Vandana Stores.

It is beautiful Meera. As always, everything is just perfect and all the dishes prepared too – looks really good. Hats off to you, for elaborately making everything in spite of your busy schedule.

Thanks, Vani. One of the greatest festivals which comes once a year, no matter how busy our schedule is, we need to take time to perform these festivals. Nothing matters when compared to how much God has given us. Small way of showing our devotion towards him.
